These weapons inflicted damage and sometimes killed soldiers in the civil war. 220000 died in all. 197000 were wounded in the war and 69000 died in the battle. Some of those wounded died from diseases that infected their wounds.

Korean War Monument

This is a statue of a soldier who fought in the Korean War. It is one of 19 soldier statues. When light reflects off this statue and the other 18 statues at night, it shows 38 statues.

Lincoln Memorial part 2 (Henry)

The Lincoln Memorial has 36 columns around the building, symbolizing the states when there was the nort and the south.  On the top of the building, all the states are listed; this symbolizes that this country was meant to be united.

This is the washington memorial, which is to honor George Washington. This man was not only the first president, he was a war figure and fought for what's right. It symbolizes him and gives powerful feelings and emotions whenever looking at it.///Ibrahim

This is the lincoln monument, which honors the great abraham lincoln. It brings joy to my heart and is a powerful monument. It is a lot bigger than i thought and it symbolizes one of the many smart americans of our history "fondly do we hope. Fervently do we pray. That this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away..."///Ibrahim

Lincoln Memorial (Henry)

The Lincoln Memorial commemorates president Lincoln, one of the best presidents in American history.  This monument was made to remember the fact that Lincoln won the Civil War, which ended slavery in the US.

This is the korean memorial. It shows the soldiers walking through the battle field. It brings tears to my eyes to see these soldiers walking through, knowing what they had to do. This is a very tragic yet heroic monument. The grass symbolises the battle field and their faces the suspense they went through each day. Definetly my favorite monument so far///Ibrahim

Korean War Monument (Henry)

On every face of these brave soldiers, they all have different emotions.  This symbolizes the whole war, including fear, pride, and death.

We just arrived in D.C. Beautiful city. I've been here before but everything is still so amazing. Can't wait to explore.

Pennsylvania was a beautiful place. I have always wanted to come here and possibly live here too. I love the nature, the spirit, and the architecture. Gettysburg was my favorite part of the trip possibly, because of its creepiness. All in all, Pennsylvania was a lot of fun and i want to come back again. Also, West Virginia was fun with the rafting. Overall, a lot of fun.///Ibrahim

Rafting a huge success!

Little Round Top (Henry)

Little round top was amazing.  It is hard to believe that I was standing exactly where Union soldiers shot.  Although the cannons were full of rust, it was still amazing to see an 1861 built cannon.  You could see for miles of Pennsylvania, which was probably key for the Union.  The cannon was at the bottom of Little Round Top.

Confederate Lines

Our tour guide helped us visualize the battlefield from the perspective of the confederate artillery. Adjacent was the memorial for Confederate General Robert E. Lee who surveyed and commanded the engagment. -G

Gettysburg Museum

We saw a great movie presentation on the battle at Gettysburg followed by a visit to an awesome painting, the Cyclorama. Time to tour the battlegounds and monuments. -G

this is a small part of the battle field that was around day 2. The south didn't think they could get cannons up the rocks but the north did. Once the north fired into the trees and saw shining pieces from the south as an alert.

Ready, FIRE!

Our group learning the artillery firing procedure. The crew was able to do 8 cycles in one minute. During the civil war, two firings per minute was consdidered well done. -G

We just went on a tour of Gettysburg and learned a lot about the battle that took place in April 19th, 1863. 7,000 Union and Confederate men lost their lives in the three bloody days of this battle. Only one civilian of Gettysburg was killed in the whole battle.
-Hunter

The cannons used in the battle come from all different places and times. There are codes, numbers and names to find where each came from. Some are fake or made after the battle.~joshdb

This is a union battle gear.
Gettysburg was great. It is one of the most interesting battles of the civil war. Union general george Meade prevented confederate general Robert e. Lee from taking over D.C.
my favorite part of gettysburg was the ghost tour. our tour guide was really nice and allowed us to use equipment to contact ghosts. a series of skirmishes took place all over gettysburg. in the town we saw bullet holes and logded in cannon balls in the walls.
i enjoyed gettysburg. miles
New York and Boston are both very interesting cities and both have historical significance, but if I had to choose one to live in I would choose Boston.  I would not like to live in a big city like New York because it seems to me to be to dense of a city.  Boston seems to have more Revolutionary War significance and has many good colleges nearby. - Jesse

Every culture has its own story of how their world was created. Greek mythology states that when the world began, it was a place where humans weren't welcome. They lived in caves, hiding from the titan lord Kronos. But then Kronos received a prophecy, telling him that his five children would overthrow him. To avoid the prophecy, he ate his children, but his wife tricked him by keeping one of the children away from him. Since all of his children were immortal, they were growing up completely normally in his stomache. When the one who escaped being eaten (Zeus) became an adult, he fed Kronos a poison, making him throw up the other four children. Then all five of the children attacked him, chopped him into tiny peices with his own scythe, and threw him in to the darkest part of Tartaurus (hell, basically). The five children became the gods (Zeus, Hera, Demeter, Poseidon, and Hades)
. They were good leaders, and under them humans started to grow and learn.

This is a 3d representation painting of the battle of gettysburg. This really portrays what happened.

the battle of getysburg was one of great loss. It was the turning point for the war and is one of the bloodiest battles. The battle went on for 3 days. There were 40,000 wounded and 11,000 killed. This was a total of 51,000 casualties in total, which is about 20 times th population of the town of gettysburg. So if you divide the total number of casualties by the 3 days the battle took, that means that it was a rate of 17,000 casualties a day. That is just shocking./// Ibrahim

These are the faces of dead union calvary men. 3155 were killed, 14529 were wounded, and 5365 were captured or missing. Thats about 23,049 men. Miles

About 620,000 soldiers and sailors died in the four year civil war. This is about 2% of the population. that would equal to about 6 million dead today.

The Battle at Gettysburg- Math (Henry)

The battle at Gettysburg was the turning point for the Union.  Around 11,000 died, while 40,000 soldiers were wounded.  This adds up to 51,000 people, about 20 times the amount of people in Gettysburg.  In total,  nearly 2 percent of all Americans got killed due to the battle.

These are Union and confederate weapons. Different weapon types were issued to different parts of the army. For example, a knife and a rifles would be issued to an infintry solider. An officer sword would be given to a officer, and so on. Miles
