lilienthal glider.
otto litienal influenced the wright brothers by desinging and creating a succesful and safest glider. The wright brothers were inspired and created a similar glider. Miles

The double wing shape of the glider inspired the wright bros. as a stable way to fly. If they hadn't seen it, they might of made a single wing plane that would fail. Joshdb

How a wing works (Henry)

The downward push on the air must result in an upward push on the wing.

The museum I chose was the Natural History Museum. Here are exhibits about animals and other wildlife. I chose to go here because animals are interesting.

How things fly (Henry)

Lift is the force that acts at a right angle to the direction of motion through the air.  Weight is the force of gravity.  Thrust is the force that propels in the direction of.motion.  Drag is the force.that acts opposite to the direction of motion.

Lift is created by differences in a pressure. Weight is the force of gravity to the center of the earth. Thrust is the force that propels something in its direction. Drag is the force that acts opposite to it.~joshdb/ezri

flight is made when thrust and lift combine to make a difference in air presure to lift the plane.

Lilienthal (Henry)

The Wright Brothers were influenced by Lilienthal.  This was because he was the first man to make a glider.  The Wright Brothers used his designs hundreds of times (glider) to make a better plane.

The four forces of flight are lift, drag, thrust, and weight. The wings of an aircraft create lift. Wings have rounded front edges because air flows well over rounded edges, whereas sharp edges disrupt the airflow. Wings lift the airplane because there is a different pressure level on top of the wing than t there is on the bottom. Drag is created when an object in the air disrupts the airflow, creating friction with the air. The more aerodynamic an object is, the less drag it creates. Thrust is the forward motion an object needs to get lift. The thrust of an airplane comes from its jets. The last force is weight. Weight affects flight because the heavier an object is, the more lift and thrust it needs to become airborne.

This exhibit talks about sound. It shows how sound works by using a drum. We can learn so much wit that and i like how it explains how it has to do with sound///Ibtahim

An airplane creates a wave of pressure in the air. A sonic boom occurs when a plane travels faster than the speed of sound. A cone shaped thing of air appears around the plane.
-Hunter

John Macready and Oakley Kelly inspired air travel greatly. They flew the first nonstop transcontinental flight; Macready set a world altitude record and was a leading test pilot in the U.S. Army. Many more of their actions inspired flight greatly.
-Hunter

This is where john macready and oaklet kelly's plane is. This plane is cslled the t2. The t2 is a plane made by the dutch for transport. It was the first plane used for a non stop trans continental flight. Without them, our planes would not go as far and well as they do now./// Ibrahim

Otto Litienthal created a hang glider design that was inventive and successful. It had broad wings that folded easily for storage. It could be controlled by the flyer shifting his weight back and forth, moving the glider's center of gravity. It could go up to 1150 feet in the air. Its maneuverability and the massive lift given by its cotton covered wings were used by the wright brothers as they designed the world's first airplane.
-sophie. science.

This is where the lilienthal hang glider is. It was invented by Otto Lilienthal in 1894. It worked like this: the wing and tail surfaces are covered with doped cotton cloth and a horizontal stabilizer is connected to the frame by a pivot at the front of the rudder. The wing folded rearwards for storage and transporting, and the pilot went between the 2 wings./// Ibrahim

Otto Lilienthal created the first hang glider in 1894. The machine inspired the Wright brothers to create the first airplane.
-Hunter

Wings on an aircraft give it lift and reduce drag. They create different pressure zones to increase flight capability. Without wings an aircraft couldn't turn or even fly.
-Hunter

this is the wright brothers glider it was the first thing to flight. the historic flight took place in 1903.

Each of the 4 elements combine and help/go against flight. Lift and thrust help the plain fly, by getting it up and flying, while gravity and drag slow ad bring it down. The sharp edge of a wing creates it so air pressure won't follow it like it would with a rounded edge.///Ibrahim

Thrust boosts the aircraft. Drag lets the aircraft slow down and control acceleration. Lift helps the aircraft take off and stay up. Weight of the aircraft lets the aircraft land. All of these give aircrafts flight control-Hunter

The four elements of flight are lift, weight, thrust, and drag. Lift is the force tha acts at a right angle to the direction of. Motion through the air, weight is the force of gravity, thrust is the force that propels a flying machine in the direction of the motion, and drag is the force that works against the motion.///Ibrahim

This is the great hall in the library of congress. The library of congress is the biggest library in the world. It is located in D.C. the library of congeress also has very tight security.the ceiling has many paintings and mozaic arts. Many columns and stautes are supporting the structure. It is also supported by the congress and private sectors. miles

Now we are inside of the capitol building.  It is huge!  There are a lot of security and they don't even allow water bottles.  This is probably themost important building in the United States.  The second picture is the supreme court, and I got to tell you, it's pretty supreme.  That is where all the supreme decisions are made for the country.
